The month of November brought thanksgiving, and 8B’s students of the month. These kids exemplify what if means to be a great student, and get rewarded for it; yet this leaves some confused. Many ask the question “How can I become the student of the month?” So I interviewed some f the students to learn, what made teachers want them to come to class.
Matt Pennington stated, “I just helped others, and got everything done, and when I was done, I was quiet.”
Courtney Dodd agreed with Matt when she said, “I make sure I have good grades in all my classes, and I help everyone.”
Later when I asked Matt how he got rewarded for becoming a student of the month he explained to me the process,
“So I got my picture taken, and then I got a cup of prizes, with candy and other stuff in it… It was pretty cool” He stated.
Mrs. Armilio, the 8th grade Comm-Arts teacher on 8B stated, “My criteria for a student of the month is, they need a strong work ethic, a positive image, and they need to have respect for everyone around them, students, and teachers, as well as the classroom.”
Mrs. Mason an 8th grade social studies teacher said, “We have a team meeting, and we bring up names of students who have great behavior in, and out of class. Those who are good citizens, those who help out, plus, those who are involved in school.”
So in the end, the process is a simple one: finish all your work, respect and help others, sit and be quiet for the rest of class. Three easy steps, that are probably the most challenging three steps for many students.
Congratulations to 8B’s students of the month: Mathew Pennington, JC Schuennemann, Jacob Guenther, Haley Fletchall, Sydney Offield, and Courtney Dodd.
