The hard work has paid off for the Liberty Varsity Cheer team. After months of hard work, long practices, fundraisers, and critical coaches, the girls have come out on top. On December 18th, the team showed just how much they’ve put into cheer, as they took first place at regionals. The girls won the competition against some of the best teams around including Fort Osage, Staley, Park Hill South, Smithville, and many other groups. The 3 time state champions now get the opportunity to go to Nationals on February 10-12 in Orlando, Florida.
The Varsity team consists of: Melissa Anderson, Lauren Bishop, Morgan Braden, Mackenzie Briggs, Deneisha Daugherty, Hailey Davisson, Maddisen Denney, Maria Esparza, Audrie Estrada, Danni Hammontree, Hope Henderson, Natalie Hill, Allie Holyfield, Emily Houck, Jackie Jimenez, Hannah Lowrance, Aubrynne Lundgren, Ashlyn Mansil, Shelby Metcalfe, Brooke Meyer, Gabby Morales, Lexi Rich, Macy Rich, Leah Rutliff, Ashley Scalco, Sheridan Staton, Sydney Triplett, Sami Turley, Michaela White, and Ashlee Worthey.
When asked about the preparation for the Regional Competition, Allie Holyfield, a junior on the team stated, “All we could think about was cheer, cheer, cheer. If one of us didn’t stay focused the whole team failed so we were in it for each other. We knew we had to get better every single day and that’s exactly what we did.”
Lexi Rich, a freshman on the squad adds in, “We are so lucky to have a team that is so cheer-oriented. We all love each other so much and would do anything for one another.”
