If you’re an average American, which most likely you are, you will spend nine years of your life watching movies. Would you want to waste some of that time with a horrible movie? No, and with so many new movies being released, it’s pertinent to know which movies are best and which ones to forget about.

One movie that seems to be in the spot light because of its release just one year after the Swedish version is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I was extremely excited for the release of this movie, as a huge fan of the book by Stieg Larsson. After watching the David Fincher version and re-watching the original Swedish version, I was extremely disappointed. A word to sum up this movie is “forced”, in my opinion, because the plot didn’t flow the way the “original” did. I give this film 6.5 out of ten.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is another huge release. The first movie seemed as if each of the actors was barely relating to their characters, and this movie showed great improvement from the first. Robert Downey Jr. really became Sherlock in this movie, as well as added humor to the movie. Jude Law’s acting as Watson, however, did not improve. He almost forgot that his character had a limp for half the movie. Overall, I rate this movie 6.5 out of ten.

War Horse, was originally a book by Michael Morpurgo, then a Broadway play and as soon as I heard it was going to become a movie I knew it was going to be one of those “corny animal films”. I am not opposed to animal films, just those that don’t make any sense, such as War Horse. I’d like to ask the makers of this film, “WHAT GERMAN CAMP DURING WW1 HAS NO PEOPLE STANDING WATCH?” Please I need to know. This movie will only appeal to kids and their mothers, earning it, in my book, a 4 out of ten.

The Muppets actually surprised me, the humor and the corny songs in all. I laughed, and enjoyed the movie. It was shocking how many stars were in this movie, the list included: Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Radisha Jones, Zach Galifinakis, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, and many, many more, but that’s not what made the movie so funny. I enjoyed the occasional breaking of the fourth wall in the movie which allowed the Muppet’s to score 9 out of ten.

Devil Inside, earned a 5, only because I felt the whole movie wasn’t as scary as it could’ve or should’ve been. Scary movies should be scary, not only contain creepy moments throughout them.

Mariah Holley agreed with this, she said, “The movie was boss, but only certain parts were actually scary. The graphics, and sound effects were good, but the ending was really stupid.”

Movies to Avoid:

Alvin and the Chipmunks, I have not seen this movie, nor will I. Those who do see this should be cut off from society completely. This movie doesn’t even deserve a rating. If I were forced to give it one it would be .000001 out of ten.

Jack and Jill, after watching the trailer only, I decided that this movie is a terrible attempt for one of those “everything ended happy and now we feel warm and fuzzy inside” family movies that make me wonder if directors are running out of ideas.

Don’t waste your life, watch good movies.
