Everyone has a favorite teacher; some are as nice as preachers. They teach you lessons in and out of school, like how to float in a deep swimming pool. They won’t always be nice; we’ve figured that out so far. But they will love you to the end, and think you are a shining star. No matter whom your favorite teacher might be, when they talk, you always have to remember to just agree.

You all have one, but what makes a teacher a “favorite teacher” or the “best teacher”? What qualities must they have? You’re about to find out.

“Not just a great teacher, but a great friend.” Most students at LJHS would agree with Sydney Perkins statement on one of the most favorited teachers at Liberty Junior High, Mrs. Armilio. Mrs. Armilio has been a teacher at LJH for 8 years. When asked about why he likes her, Jacob Taber, a freshman at LJHS replies, “Mrs. Armilio is easy to talk to and very helpful.”

Another fan favorite at our school is Mr. Smith. Avery Boll had him last year and she tells us, “I loved Mr. Smith because he was caring and always made my day better.” Madison Jones adds in, “Something about Mr. Smith just makes everyone love him. He never overreacts to things and he has a kind heart.” Henry Logan and Abby McGregor agree that Mr. Lowe is great because he’s helpful and caring. Abby also says she likes Mrs. Mitchel because she’s funny and they can relate well.

Great friend? Easy to talk to? Helpful? Kind hearted? Not all teachers have the “great teacher” qualities but what do they really have to be like? Madison Jones says, “To be a great teacher you have to have unique qualities. You have to be different and cool. Also don’t give a lot of homework. My very favorite teacher is Mrs. Roark  because she gives me creativity and makes me a better person.” Nate Palmarine adds in, “You can never stop having fun because then class gets boring and nobody likes you anymore. Moss is my favorite teacher because he’s a cool guy and he’s just like a friend. ”

Lots of different qualities make a teacher a great teacher but everyone’s are different. Whether a teacher is funny or nice they will be favored by many. Treat teachers how you want to be treated so you can all get along and have a great year!
